Sew a Softie - The Crafternoon

It begins with needle and thread
that's how the magic is bred;
some fabric, a little stuffing,
and still it looks like nothing.

Now comes the fun part -
you begin working your art,
and as you sew your design
the magic begins to shine.

You stop for tea and cake,
and then go on with your make;
you work a little faster,
magic is a stern master.

With tea, conversation and fun
your softie is quickly done,
and you hope to return soon
for another crafternoon!

We are once again joining the Sew a Softie project
where my niece Dana (8) is a 'Kid Ambassador',
serious in her mission to spread the joy of sewing.

To that end we've hosted a crafternoon
where Dana showed how to make a heart softie.
We've made a garland out of the hearts
to show that you can make softie decorations
to cheer any party.

And there was even a student hiding underneath the table...

Scotland Revisited

The mountains, the water, the sheep,
the beautiful northern light,
the people, the place, the journey -
Scotland - you've been a delight!

I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud

What does a cloud do
on a sunny day?
does he float about
all light and gay?

Or does he feel
lonely and glum,
waiting for autumn
so his time may come?

This coffee shop used to be a
row of working stables.
Now there are little shops where
the horses used to be
and a coffee house in the main area.

For the next couple of weeks
I'll be in Scotland.
I'll miss you all.
